TRUTH IS FALLEN IN THE STREET
THE MARKET PLACE
Isaiah 59:14

Isaiah_59:14-15, 18:
14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

JUDGEMENT WAS HELD IN THE GATE OR THE MARKET PLACE – MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE CARRIED ON IN THE OPEN – IN PUBLIC.

ISAIAH IS SAYING THAT JUDGEMENT IS OUTSIDE THE CITY NOT ALLOWED IN!

TRUTH IS KNOCKED DOWN AND TRAMPLED WITH DISREGARD.

V. 15 . . . and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.

V.18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompense to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompense.

Isaiah is mentioning four distinct personages in his metaphor of Jerusalem’s lack of justice.

JUDGMENT: (Heb. Mishpawt a judicial verdict ) The process of forming a just opinion after consideration of the facts. Judgment by the elders in the gate or in the market – the usual place where wronged people come with an appeal for justice – there was no regard for the rights of the poor, ONLY BRIBES by the rich influenced the judges. The elders used their position for personal again.

This created a condition that those who departed from evil become a prey – persecuted by the elders rather than justified.

WHEN THE FRIENDS OF THE JUDGMENT, JUSTICE AND THE TRUTH ARE BARRED FROM THE CITY AND TRUTH FALLS IN THE STREET AND TRAMPLED ON, THE LORD WILL RISE UP IN BEHALF OF THOSE TREATED UNJUSTLY!

He did and He will!!
Isa 59:17-19 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.
18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.
19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

JUSTICE: (Heb. Tsedawkaw) the quality of being just, impartial, or fair. The elders who sat in judgment were not making just decisions but decisions that were partial, discriminating and self serving.

TRUTH: (Heb. Emeth: according to facts and actuality) To come to a right decision with certainty! To tell all of the facts in such a way that you leave a right impression and then to accept the facts and form an opinion or a decision that satisfies justice. Facts had become unimportant because the judges had to make decisions to their own advantage and the advantage of their paying friends. Truth was being pushed down on the street and trampled!

EQUITY: (Heb. Neko-kaw) Integrity, concrete and convincing truth.

TRUTH WAS BEING TRASHED!

This condition GOD WILL NOT tolerate – HIS WORD IS TRUTH!

TRUTH IS BECOMING SCARCE!
Changes by osmosis are noticed by those Christians who have lived the longest. We have noticed a difference in the vocabulary and the topics from the pulpit. The church was once doctrinally oriented because we wanted to make changes and get closer to God. BUT TODAY CHRISTIANS ENTERTAIN PRESUMPTUOUS SIN – THEY ARE LIVING IN THE WORLD AND THINK THEY’RE LIVING IN THE THIRD HEAVEN.

David tells us very frankly about presumptuous sin. Psalm 19:12-13 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from

presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

TRUTH IS BECOMING SCARCE!

More dangerous than sin is to know sin has a hold on your life and have no desire to confess it and shake it and feel no regret.

TRUTH IS BECOMING SCARCE!

l. SANCTIFICATION:
To set apart for sacred use; consecrate. To be progressing on the path of sanctification.

SANCTIFICATION IS SALVATION!
But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 2 Thessalonians 2:13.

ll. MODESTY:
MODESTY is the wisdom of a sanctified heart watching over the sensual attractions of the body and dressing in such a manner you do not cause others to be attracted to you in a sensual way.

PARIS AND WHAT THE WORLD WEARS INFLUENCES MORE THAN WHAT THE WORD TEACHES US.

You can walk down any main street or through any mall in America and see the world walking all over the truth of modesty!

lll. FIRST LOVE:
The zeal, the love and excitement of being a witness for the Lord that we have in the beginning. We tend by osmosis to lose our convictions and sensitivities evaluating spiritual habits and lose OUR FIRST LOVE, THAT FRESH LOVE HE GAVE US IN THE BEGINNING.

IV. CONSECRATION:
To dedicate my whole being to God, body, soul and spirit.
When the word reveal to me something I have not surrendered I come to the altar and make further consecration of that thing to God!

Consecration returns to God at the altars of repentance and keeps giving up more and more of the flesh to gain something from God in it’s place.

V. RESTITUTION:
To restore to the rightful owner something that I caused as a loss and making good or compensating for loss, damage, or injury.

Herb Cox stole the glass blocks to build a milk house for his Dad’s dairy farm. He was convicted and told me he had a lot of stolen items – asked what he could do? I told him to count the blocks and pay the people for them; Return the tools he stole AND BE SURE TO TELL THEM THAT YOU’RE SAVED AND WANT TO MAKE IT RIGHT!

VI. CONVICTIONS:
A strong feeling of guilt that comes on us from the Holy Spirit that to correct wrong behavior or surrender to the Lord for salvation. In Acts 2 as Peter explained to the Passover crowd who Jesus was from Scripture, they cried out; What shall we do? Acts 2:37. CONVICTION MEAN TO BECOME CONVINCED OF THE TRUTH OF A MATTER!

VII. MORTIFICATION:
Discipline of the body and the appetites by self-denial THROUGH THE POWER OF THE Holy Spirit and prayer. Mortification is the doctrine of the cross! Jesus explains mortification with these words; And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23

VIII. HARD PREACHING:
To preach the truth of the gospel without reservation and without apology fervently. Paul told (2)Timothy (4:2), Preach the word; be instant (urgent) in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

PARAPHRASED: Preach the pure word of God with urgency! Even if it’s not popular with the people. You are speaking for God and heaven is listening! Don’t be afraid to correct the people and point out sin but at the same time be very patient, comforting with them.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

PREACHERS ARE GOD’S SPOKESMEN ON EARTH AND WE MUST BE CONTINUALLY AWARE THAT WE ARE SPEAKING GOD’S WORD AS HE WANTS IT PREACHED!

Preach the truth! It may smart at first but in the end it builds saints that will make the sealed multitude that is snatched out!
