The Venerators

By Bill Burkett

Venerate: To admire someone profoundly.
venerate, v. 1. revere; see love 1 (adore, be in love with, care for, choose, fancy, venerate, glorify, exalt; see also cherish 1, like 2); see worship 2 (sanctify, pray to, invoke, venerate, glorify; see also pray 2).

They sing Give Me The Old Time Religion and then live like jet set swingers.

The old time religion was a holiness religion!

The old time religion didn’t go to ball games, strip down on beaches or at pools in swimming suits, go to movies, play cards, wear cosmetics or tolerate adulteress marriages. When Charismatics sing that song they don’t believe a word of it!

In fact, they lash out with sarcastic remarks at Old Time Religion.

Today liberal apostates mock those Christians who have kept the faith and teaching of holiness as being legalistic and in bondage to tradition. At one time the holiness life of Scripture was respected and admired, but today the spirit of worldliness has so gripped the church and its vocal leadership that it has been painted as evil by wayward and worldly brethren who have left the teaching of the apostles.

Did you ever hear one of these expensively dressed Charismatics from the West (and unfortunately we now have some of our own brethren who have become like them) tell about “His dear old godly Mother,” or Father who lived “a simple holy life” and how she prayed for her children and fasted for their salvation.

But before they were finished talking this same man will teach against everything his “dear old Mother” taught him. These are the venerators. They have been caught up in a materialistic lifestyle around them, indulging in pleasures forbidden by the Word and the Spirit of God in the forbidden pleasures of the flesh, which they call “the freedom of grace in Christ,” and don’t have enough conscience to warn them of their deception and error to repent and get out of the trap they are in. If they once lived the life of holiness and they turn to this low life in the world while still professing Christ, they are not only apostate but they have rebelled against the teaching of their godly parents who lived and died in the way of Biblical truth.

MALACHI 1:6 A son honoureth {his} father, and a servant his master: if then I {be} a father, where {is} mine honour? and if I {be} a master, where {is} my fear? saith the Lord of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name? 7. Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the Lord {is} contemptible. 8. And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, {is it} not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, {is it} not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the Lord of hosts.

All instruction in the Word of God is negative to the flesh nature because the flesh opposes moral instruction! It is only when the soul has been sanctified and walking in the Spirit that the instruction of the Word becomes positive, agreeable. Apostates don’t want the moral instruction of the Word – they want only the promises, only the benefits of what is coming to God’s children – but they do not dwell on nor do they pay any attention the moral instruction of the Word. Why? Because they’re carnal, and want a non moral religion. They allow the flesh nature to remain autonomous feeding the preferences of the flesh life and its hunger for the what the world offers to the carnal nature. So long as a person remains in the flesh they will reject the moral instruction of the Word. (Galatians 5:17)

All of the moral instruction from the Word of God is directed against the selfish appetites of the flesh. So long as a person is in the flesh, they will resent any moral changes in their life. (Romans 8:8)

The Roper polling organization reports that born-again Christians do not necessarily behave any better after their conversion. According to the recent Roper survey, while 4% of born-again to drunken driving before conversion, three times as many, 12% acknowledged doing so after conversion. [Why? because it is not “conversion” these people are experiencing – it is veneration of Christ without the transforming effect that comes with repentance and obedience to the moral commandments.] Similar slippage was discovered in the use of illegal drugs: 5% before, 9% after conversion. Adultery more than doubled among the born-again: 2% before conversion and 5% after conversion.

I In fact, the world they do not have the faintest idea what the words born again mean. Yahoo recently (8/2014) run a special article on 10 celebrities who are born again. All they mentioned were questionable when you have no idea what their relationship to the Word of God is and how they can be so immodest and connected – bonded to the entertainment world. But, Mr. Flynt a multi-millionaire who continues to publish the most rank and filthy pornographic magazine that ever existed is listed among Yahoo’s born again celebrities. This is so unprofessional and stupid that it must be intentional calculated to insult the godly hundreds of thousands of Christian fundamentalists across America. Then to really show how vicious the Yahoo people are toward Christians, the interviewer asked Mr. Flynt if he believed in God and his answer was, No, with a lengthy explanation of why he did not believe in God. Yahoo is not only extremely liberal, it seems it is out to get fundamental Christians who live by the literal teaching of Christ and hold the Bible as being literal. Yahoo is extremely and intentionally ignorant of Christianity. According to Yahoo, born again is meaningless when a porn publisher who doesn’t believe in God can be born again. The day is coming they will all receive an instantaneous and c then teach false doctrine and keep men of God from their pulpits. These churches are like closed corporations. They have their few Scriptures they venerate and hold to be their doctrine while refusing anyone to teach any other traditionally accepted doctrinal truth. he Word of God and they venerate Jesus and they venerate the Holy Spirit and the Book of Acts and the apostles and prophets but live just like the people all of these preached against! Some Jews venerated Jesus and decided to “believe on Him.” But Jesus said to those Jews who believed on Him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; (John 8:31) hat Jesus did not require them to continue in HIM but in His WORD. They wanted to venerate Him and make Him their admired leader but they were doing so for reasons other than truth or love. To believe in Jesus greatness is to venerate Him, to continue in His teaching is to be His disciple. These Jews wanted to venerate Him but they had no intention of continuing in his word as he implies by addressing that fact, i.e., if ye continue in my word. Continuing with him in his word after you believe on him is the factor that makes my Christianity valid.

TRUTH: To tell the truth is to give a complete and accurate account of events so as to leave an impression on the hearer that is according to actuality. This means that truth is means we tell all of the facts, not leaving out one fact. Only then have I told the truth. Many of the Charismatic ministries today who are famous televangelists never telling all the truth of the holy lifestyle taught in the apostle’s doctrine, but carefully avoiding those vital doctrines of separation, mortification, worldliness and modesty selectively teaching sensational and often unbiblical teachings that will keep their rich donors giving into their coffers. These donors are the ones sometimes invited to fly with them in their private jets. One such man has a fleet of jets and a state of the arts hanger to house them and his private office. There will be a horrendous awakening and purge for all of us in the judgment! We will see the terror of the Lord at that time. 2 Corinthians 5:11.

TEACHING – Just how important is it in the church?
(2 Timothy 3:14-17)
(14) But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned {them}; (15) And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, [Old Testament] which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (16) All scripture {is} given by inspiration of God, and {is} profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (17) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
