Peace amid the turbulence of life
- A Grain of Wheat
Life is a grain of wheat encased within the chaff of self-will self-dependancy, self-sufficiency, and self confidence.
Trials, tribulations, temptations, sorrow, heartache, grief, despair and the hard places of life is the winnowing of the grain from the chaff.
Grain that will succumb to winnowing of life shall fall to the ground to be gathered as wheat to heavenly store.
Grain scorning the winnowing as foolishness shall fall to the ground as chaff to be burned.
- Make Me Kind
It’s easy to be kind and sweet
To people whom we seldom meet,
But in my home there are those who see,
Too many times, the worst in me.
May no one stumble over me
Because your love they fail to see,
But give me Lord, a life that sings
And victory over little things.
Give me your calm for every fear,
Your peace for every falling tear.
Make mine, O Lord, through calm and strife
A gracious and unselfish life.

- The Difference
The man who pulls his fellows down
By bad examples that he sets,
Will sometime in the future frown
Upon his folly through regrets,
When he beholds the harm he’s done
Through years that he can ne’re recall,
Though now such evils he would shun
That caused his fellow man to fall.
The man who lifts his fellows up,
By good examples and by word,
Will have an over flowing Cup
When in his spirit he is stirred
With peaceful thoughts and happy thrills
Because he helped his fellows climb
To manhood’s blessed, sun-crowned hills
And all that’s godly and sublime.

- Heart of Love
O heart of love!
I dimly comprehend
The magnitude –
The breadth, length, depth, and height,
Of love like Thine –
That stoops to me,
And asks of me my love!
My heart is cold –
O h, teach me how to love
With love like Thine.

- The Power of Love
“He drew a circle that shut me out-
Heretic , rebel, a thing to flout.
But love and I had the wit to win:
We drew a circle and took him In !
